Part of  the £1bn redevelopment of Manchester Airport the project involved the extension of Terminal 2 including the forecourt and baggage hall, as well as the addition of a 216-metre pier, an eight-storey carpark and a bus lounge. Firetech were responsible for delivering the fire stopping, cavity barriers and fire boarding to structural steelwork.

Firetech demonstrated the depth and breadth of knowledge and industry experience in passive fire detailing.

The challenge

Firetech worked closely with the architects Pascal + Watson & to propose and develop compliant instalation details with the result that all fire stops were installed to manufacturers standard details or engineering judgements approved by a UKAS third party acreditaion body. Each of the 10,000 firestops was fully documented including referance to the instalation detail or engineering judgement.
